The planning process will be a consensus-driven effort which includes a robust public engagement component to gather input from residents, visitors, business owners, property owners, and other stakeholders in the community. Public Engagement Plan

A Public Engagement Plan has been developed to identify opportunities to gather information from members of the public and stakeholders. Input received is critical to making informed decisions, which are supported by the Village residents.

 

This plan has been developed to establish a communication channel between the public, the Village, applicable regulatory agencies, and the Project Team throughout the duration of the study. This plan aims to achieve this communication by sharing information with the public regarding the planning process, and by providing a variety of occasions for the public to provide input.

Public Workshops

Public Workshops will be held throughout the Comprehensive Plan Update and LWRP process.

Public Workshop 1

Virtual Public Workshop #1

The Village of Hastings-on-Hudson held the first Public Workshop on January 30, 2023 as part of the Village’s Comprehensive Plan Update and Local Waterfront Revitalization Program. The purpose of the Virtual Public Workshop was to introduce the Comprehensive Plan Update and LWRP program and schedule, provide an overview of existing conditions and learn about needs and opportunities from the community.

Open House

Public Open House

Open House was held Wednesday, May 24, 2023 from 6:00 – 8:30 pm at the James V. Harmon Community Center, 44 Main Street, Hastings-on-Hudson, NY. Participants could drop in any time during the open house and provide input on a variety of topics. The purpose of the Open House was to provide an update on the Comprehensive Plan Update and LWRP process and gather input on topic areas such as parks and recreation, the waterfront, economic growth, transportation, etc. The Open House included interactive stations facilitated by the consultant team, as well as an opportunity to provide comments. A kids’ activity table was available.

Virtual Public Workshop #3

The Village of Hastings-on-Hudson hosted a Public Workshop on November 1, 2023 as part of the Village’s Comprehensive Plan Update and Local Waterfront Revitalization Program. The interactive workshop provided an update about the planning process, as well as introduce a draft vision, goals and recommendations. Proposed project ideas for the LWRP will also be discussed. The workshop included a presentation by the consultant team and interactive polling. The information gathered from this activity will help to inform the preparation of the Comprehensive Plan Update and LWRP. All community members are encouraged to participate! Registration is required for the event.

Committee Meetings

The Comprehensive Plan Update and LWRP Committee meets monthly on the first Wednesday of each month at 7:00 PM in the James V. Harmon Community Center at 44 Main Street. These meetings are open to the public.
